Ingredients for 4 people

  • 1 kg of minced meat (beef or lamb)

  • 2 medium onions, finely chopped

  • 2 tomatoes peeled and cut into cubes (or 20 cl of tomato coulis)

  • 1 tsp of cumin

  • 1 tsp of paprika

  • 1 bunch of parsley or coriander, finely chopped

  • 4 eggs (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil

Preparation

Step 1: Prepare the tomato sauce

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.

  2. Arrange the peeled tomatoes in a baking dish. Add a pinch of salt, 1 tsp of paprika, and sprinkle with 2 tbsp olive oil.

  3. Bake for 20 minutes. This step allows the flavors of the tomatoes to concentrate for a rich and creamy sauce.

Step 2: Prepare the kefta

  1. In a large bowl, mix the minced meat with the chopped onions, 1 tsp of cumin, OUR Organic Ground Meat Kefta Spice, salt, pepper, and the parsley or coriander.

  2. Knead by hand until the ingredients are well combined.

  3. Form meatballs about 3 cm in diameter. To prevent them from sticking, you can lightly flour them.

Step 3: Cook the kefta meatballs

  1. Take the dish of tomato sauce out of the oven and place the meatballs directly in the sauce.

  2. Bake again for 15 minutes.

Step 4: Add the eggs (optional)

  1. Gently break the eggs on the surface of the kefta balls.

  2. Put back in the oven for an additional 5 minutes, until the eggs are cooked to your liking.

Step 5: Serve

  1. Sprinkle the dish with a little chopped parsley or coriander for a touch of freshness.

  2. Serve hot, accompanied by traditional Moroccan bread or rice for a complete meal.
