DESCRIPTION

The kohl is not the same as a simple modern eyeliner pencil: it belongs to an ancient cosmetic tradition associated with eye makeup in North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. The words kohl, surma and kajal are often used as synonyms: “surma” is very common in South Asia, particularly in Pakistan and India, and “kajal” now also refers to many modern products for outlining the eyes.

The Hashmi Kohl Aswad is part of this heritage. “Aswad” (أسود) means “black” in Arabic: a very fine black powder that accentuates the eye and creates a striking contrast with the white of the eye and the iris for a dark, deep, and elegant gaze. Made in Karachi, Pakistan, by Mohammad Hashim Tajir Surma, it bears the label “Since 1794”: the brand claims more than two centuries of experience in preparing kohl, surma, and kajal.

Unlike liquid eyeliner, which creates a very sharp, graphic line, the kohl powder offers a more traditional and adjustable finish: a very small amount is enough for a subtle look, while several light applications create an intense oriental look or a smoky effect (smoky). It appeals to fans of oriental eye makeup and those who find classic pencils too modern.

Composition indicated on the packaging: Kohl Powder, Zinc Oxide, Amorphous Black, Blend of Herbs, meaning kohl powder, zinc oxide, amorphous black, and a blend of herbs. It is not “pure ithmid”: the packaging does not present it as such.

Technical specifications: Hashmi Kohl Aswad product · traditional kohl / surma type · eye makeup use · black color · fine powder texture · net weight approximately 4.5 g · origin Pakistan · manufacturer Mohammad Hashim Tajir Surma, Karachi · applicator accessory · store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

Its packaging is easy to recognize: a small golden bottle with a traditional design, presented in an orange, red, and gold blister pack featuring a logo depicting eyes and the inscription “Kohl Aswad”. Why choose Hashmi Kohl Aswad?

✔ Deep black to define and intensify the eyes

✔ Traditional powder kohl (surma) for buildable coverage, from natural to smoky

✔ Applicator included : a small amount is enough for each application

✔ Hashmi heritage claimed since 1794, made in Karachi, Pakistan

✔ Transparent ingredients listed on the packaging · compact 4.5 g bottle

Instructions for use and precautions

1. Prepare the applicator : it must be clean and completely dry before each use.

2. Pick up the powder : insert the applicator into the bottle and make a slight rotating motion to pick up a small amount of kohl.

3. Remove and tap the applicator very lightly to remove excess powder.

4. Apply gently the kohl around the eye, then repeat the process for the other eye.

💡 Tips : for a natural look, use one light stroke. For an intense oriental look, gradually build up the intensity rather than applying a lot of powder at once. For a smoky effect, gently work along the outer contour.

⚠️ Precautions : for use around the eyes only; do not ingest. Do not share the applicator, and keep it clean and dry. Avoid use in case of irritation or eye injury, and stop applying if persistent discomfort occurs. For adult use only: do not use on children or babies. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with the bottle tightly closed.
