The Beldi black soap is one of the most iconic Moroccan beauty treatments. Used for generations in traditional hammams, it is part of a purification and body care ritual deeply rooted in Moroccan culture. Traditionally made from olives and saponified olive oil, it comes in the form of a thick, supple, dark paste, with a color that ranges from brown to very dark green depending on its composition. It is not a grainy exfoliant: it cleanses and prepares the skin for mechanical exfoliation with a kessa glove.

The Al Yakout Moroccan Beldi black soap (الياقوت), labeled “Moroccan Beldi Soap – Olive Oil Extracts,” carries on this tradition. Applied to warm, damp skin, it helps soften dead skin cells and remove impurities that build up on the skin every day. Olive oil is valued in cosmetics for its richness in fatty acids, particularly oleic acid.

1. Prepare your skin : take a warm shower or spend a few minutes in a humid environment to soften your skin.

2. Apply the black soap : spread a small amount of Beldi soap over damp skin, avoiding the face and sensitive areas.

3. Leave it on for about 5 minutes, depending on your skin's tolerance.

4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

5. Exfoliate : gently massage your skin with a damp kessa glove, without rubbing too hard.

6. Moisturize : finish with a body oil or moisturizer.

💡 Recommended frequency : about once a week for exfoliating with a kessa glove, adjusting as needed for your skin's sensitivity.
